RGB Mod
The video below covers the mod but is somewhat lengthy. The TL;DW is that you simply need to solder a right-angled SCART port to the empty header on the 1084. Some models of 1084 already have the sound connected on the SCART pins, others do not.
If you don't have sound:
- For stereo models (ex. 1084S, 1084S-P) simply connect a wire from SCART pin 4 to the L audio's input pin, likewise for the R audio on SCART pin 2.
- For mono models, you can mux the SCART stereo audio down to mono using two resistors of equal value. The value is not really important, they just need to match. For example two 1K resistors would be fine, or 10K, whatever. Hold the resitors together and twist one pair of their legs together in a spiral, then solder them together. Solder the other ends to SCART Pin 2 and 4, respectively. Run a wire from the tied-together end to the mono audio input pin on the 1084.
If you don't have sync, some early model 1084s are not pre-wired to accept sync from the SCART port. Wiring the sync to the composite input will not work either. The fix is to run a wire from SCART pin 20 to pin 2 of the 6-pin Analog RGB DIN input (labeled horizontal or composite sync on the pinout).
