Summary

Interesting 80's stereo receiver with a built-in pre-out video display in the center. You can monitor any of the composite video inputs, with a seperate choice for which input is currently routed to the output. This allows you to preview other inputs without changing the output, which can be very useful for amateur analog video editing and recording.

Notes

This device has no light indicator for power. When the rear switch is "on", the unit is on a 12v standby state, waiting for you to press the "Function" button on the front left of the unit to power it fully on. Once you press Function, you can use the stereo ampflier as well as the built-in monitor. The monitor can be turned on and off seperately from the rest of the amplifier via the "Monitor On/Off" toggle switch. The red input toggle switches control which video input is currently being monitored by the built-in display. There is an output on the back of the unit for the current monitor feed if you wish to use that in your editing/recording chain. Otherwise the main output is controlled seperately, by the grey input toggle switches on the far right. Video and audio output are toggled on/off by the "Video - Audio" button above the input toggle switches.

Be careful shipping these units - the CRT bracket inside is plastic and brittle.

Repair Notes

If the CRT does not turn on or off but the rest of the unit works fine, you have a problem on the "Monitor PCB", which is in the front right hand side of the unit inside. Check all fusible resistors. If the CRT mount broke and dropped the CRT onto the chassis, likely it caused a high current short to ground and blew one or more protection resistors on the Monitor PCB. Check R454 first.
