Summary

The CM-22 is one of the BVC colour monitors which are designed for applications where a good picture quality is required.

The CM-22 is equipped with a 9-inch (22cm) in-line gun picture tube; high resolution. The dimensions and weight make it most suitable for portable applications or where dimensions are important. The CM-22 is available in cabinet or rack version.

The set is equipped with an audio amplifier and a built-in speaker. Video composite and RGB inputs are standard on CM-22.

The switch mode power supply allows stable performance in areas where the mains supply may vary under certain circumstances. Feeding the CM-22 with 12v batteries is also possible.

The modular design which has been used in this monitor allows a quick and easy service.

For the moment for CM-22 types can be delivered: CM-22 PAL, CM-22 NTSC 3-58, CM-22 PAL Ampex, CM-22 NTSC 3-58 Ampex.

The NTSC versions have standard the pulse cross possibility. The Ampex versions distinguish themself on some mechanical modifications and there is no possibility for battery supply.

Notes

The CRT in this is the sharpest 9" picture tube I have ever seen from any manufacturer. Previously, the sharpest I had seen was the Sony CPD-9000 with the M23JHU10X. On paper the Sony tube has a lower pitch but that is due to its aperture grille design. In reality this NEC shadowmask is much sharper to the eye.

There is a process to follow for proper disassembly in the service manual. There is a service position for the power supply (pictured below).

The power supply and vertical deflection board likely need a recap.

The horizontal oscillation will shut off if vertical deflection is not detected within a couple seconds of startup - this is described in more detail in the service manual.

Focus can be adjusted on the right side of the neckboard (white box with black knob pictured below). G2 adjustment is P2 on the horz def board, but the tube is AKB so there is likely no G2 adjustment necessary. Cutoff can be adjusted on the front via pass-through holes. Geometry is adjusted via the vertical deflection board. Horizontal position is adjusted via a large black pot on the horizontal output board.
