Manuals
Notes
- S-Video requires a breakout adapter which has chroma and luma on seperate RCA plugs.
Common Repairs
- No color for S-Video: Clean the rear input switch with deoxit -spray directly into the side of the switch from inside the case, so that you saturate the row of pin contacts inside. Rapidly run the switch back and forth for a good 5 seconds to clean up the contacts.
- Video drops out after a few seconds or minutes: Try cleaning the rear input switch as described above. If problem persists then order a cap kit and recap.
Using composite from the rear panel
The 1701/1702 monitors take composite from the front RCA connector and luma/chroma from the rear connectors. There is a very simple mod that can be made to enable using composite from the back panel using the luma connector. Both the composite and the luma signals go to the same video path, so it's enough to bridge them together with a short wire; see the schematics and picture below. The switch will still commute between composite and luma/chroma but both can be plugged in the back, keeping the front of the monitor clean.
