Summary

High resolution broadcast monitor with a 20" (19" viewable) 700 TVL shadow mask tube. Very well built, with a metal frame and a cast steel front bezel. Behind the front panel is a retractable drawer that contains additional picture controls such as color balance, screen position, geometry, and focus. The monitor is capable of storing up to three preset profiles.

Notes

The tube pitch is marked as 0.43mm in Ikegami's specifications but Panasonic themselves confirmed the pitch of this tube to be 0.40mm with a maximum resolvable resoution of 865 TVL. The actual TVL will be limited by the bandwidth and other circuitry of a given chassis, which is why this monitor is only marked as 700 TVL despite having an 865 TVL tube inside. Source

It is normal for the "No Burst" LED to be illuminated when viewing any signal type without a chroma burst in it (such as RGB).

It is normal for the "Overload" LED to illuminate on a full white screen.

Unlike most monitors, chroma levels are adjustable in RGB mode.

These monitors can be password locked, which will disable most of the picture adjustments. The default password is "EXIT".

The 20RH models do not have the ability to display PAL video in color in their default configuration, although a PAL decoder board can be added. The TM20-20RP, conversely, comes with a PAL board by default but does not accept NTSC.

Ikegami produced several other optional accessory kits for this monitor, including digital SDI and S-Video inputs. The monitor does not have a Y/C input in its default configuration. An optional set up probe was available for automatic color calibration.

As with other Ikegami monitors, the BNC inputs are not auto terminating. 75 ohm terminators are required for proper brightness levels.

A higher resolution version of this monitor, the TM20-30RH, was also produced. It features a finer pitch, dual focus tube.
