Summary

27" JVC InteriArt Musée from Asia, made in 2004. Has a full set of inputs, and can support multiple video standards like NTSC, PAL, and SECAM. It seems this Musée model is slightly higher end compared to the other InteriArt models.

Notes

Build quality of this model is a bit lacking. Plastic is a teensy bit brittle, so be careful when handling this set. Heck, some of the buttons on the front of my set got pushed in because they were so flimsy.

There's awful velocity modulation that you can't turn off in the standard or service menu. As it turns out, you need to unplug a jumper from the neckboard to disable VM. After that, turn sharpness down a bit, and the image should look just right.

Picture quality from the Philips jungle chip is good, but needs adjusting. By default, the reds and blues are pushed so hard that they BLEED horizontally. Even at 50% the colors are intense. There's no NTSC MAT or any means to turn off red or blue push in the service menu, so what is to be done? I recommend turning down the color saturation in the standard menu until the reds and blues no longer appear overdriven. (This will make the greens appear faded.) Then boost the green drive and/or cutoff until the image looks balanced. (I'm not sure this will work, but it's worth a try.)

Speaking of the service menu, you need the original remote (or a JVC TV remote from that region) to get in. I ended up getting the slightly updated RM-C1281, and it works perfectly. I also needed the remote to turn off the annoying "VIDEO 1" channel label as it wouldn't go away on its own. And using the front buttons on the set itself was not an option for previously mentioned reasons.

For composite and s-video, I recommend turning the sharpness up a bit, as it helps clean up the chroma bleed of those signals.

Picture tube is a Beijing-Matsushita model made in China. Its a very nice tube with a dark tint and a slightly finer dot pitch compared to other CPTs of the time. I'd say its very similar looking to a Thomson A68ELH011X. The tube can also be found in New Net City arcade chassis.

Overall, this is a pretty nice set. I've seen it pop up a few times stateside, probably brought over by American soldiers coming back from being stationed overseas.
