Summary

JVC's very first widescreen HD CRT released in North America. Has RF, composite, s-video, component and DVI inputs with stereo sound. Supports 240p/480i, 480p, 540p, 720p, and 1080i; all signals are scaled to 1500i. Made in Mexico in 2003.

The scaling process on this model JVC is called Digital Image Scaling Technology (or D.I.S.T. for short.) Since all signals are upconverted like a modern LCD would, that means all the signals have lag to some degree.

It is fairly significant in that this set was one of the few CRTs of the time to support 720p. Based on the service manual, it seems that signals are actually scaled to 1440i. I speculate the 1500i branding came about in that since 720p with the blanking interval is 750 lines, and 2x that is 1500, that became the marketed resolution. It just rolls off the tongue!
