Notes

Thanks to @kuma for the following info:

35 individually configurable channels

Another very cool feature of the Mitsu is the up to 35 individually configurable channels. Similar to the BVM monitors, you can freely set channels and save them with individual image parameters. The following parameters can be freely configured:

  • Contrast/Brightness
  • Bass/Treble/Balance
  • Horizontal/Vertical Position & Size Not even the BVMs can do that, because unfortunately you can only adjust the horizontal position per channel, not the vertical position, and certainly not the size. You can configure a channel for each resolution and then switch as you wish.

Geometry / Convergence / Image Sharpness / Service Menu

Considering the enormous size of the tube and also the age of the device (mid 90s), the geometry is pretty good, interestingly the geometry is actually really good in 31Khz mode!

In 15Khz mode there are problems with horizontal linearity in the last third of the right half of the image (the boxes in the grid become narrower there). This is not the case in 31Khz mode.

I also noticed that the image is relatively dark and you have to increase the contrast to max. If I set the impedance switch from 75 ohms to "High", I can leave contrast at medium level. There is a service menu, but with very, very limited options. What's also practical is that there is a higher-level option for the HSize in the menu, thanks to which I can go up to full screen in 31Khz (Dreamcast & Co.). Of course, the picture doesn't quite have the sharpness of a BVM, or even the sharpness of one 29" NEC, but you can only see that if you are very close to the screen, which you probably don't do given its size. :) The picture looks great from a distance from your seat. And many smaller inconsistencies are forgiven or easily overlooked given the sheer size.
