Notes

There are two possible tube models in this set, a Panasonic or Samsung one. The pics provided are of the Panasonic tube.

Picture quality is fairly underwhelming before you adjust. Aside from the obvious brightness and contrast adjustment, turning sharpness all the way down is recommended.

Disabling velocity modulation is a necessity on these sets. There is no service menu option for it, as the only way is to unplug a jumper from the yoke.

These sets also have INSANE red push causing warmer colors to bleed heavily. There's no service menu option to turn it off. Thankfully, there is still a way to counteract it:

  1. Turn color saturation down in the standard menu until reds are no longer bleeding and the scanlines are all the same thickness.
  2. Perform a white balance in the service menu, usually boosting the blue and green cutoffs.

After this, picture quality should look fantastic, almost like RGB. Check out the pictures, it seriously looks incredible!

And word of advice: take a picture what you have the final color saturation set to, as whenever you unplug the TV, the menu settings reset.
