Summary

Higher-end 27" CRT by Panasonic, a SuperFlat model made in Mexico in 1992. Has RF, composite, and s-video inputs with bassy DOME speakers.

Notes

Set has velocity modulation. To disable it, unplug the jumper connecting the yoke to the neckboard.

This set has no service menu. On the board itself there are the following POTs for adjustment: V height, V center, H height, H center, pincushion, and trapezoid. On the neckboard there is R, G, and B drive; R and B cutoff.

RGB Mod

To RGB mod this set, follow these steps:

1. Desolder and remove the jungle chip from the board.
2. Carefully bend pins 27, 28, 29 and 30 straight. Then at the midpoint of each pin, make a 90-degree bend upwards so as to not break off the pins at the chip connection.
3. Solder RGB and blanking wires to the pins and use heat shrink for support. (No diodes are needed for the RGB lines.)
4. Carefully put the chip back in and resolder all pins minus the ones that were bent. (Double check all pins for continuity to neighbors because it’s easy to accidentally bridge them.)
5. Solder the blanking wire from the jungle to the common pins on a 4DPDT switch (center). No resistors are needed for blanking.
6. Solder a wire from the center pin to the SCART connector.
7. Solder another wire for blanking on the other pole of switch to the bottom of board into where the pins used to come through from jungle. (This will intercept the OSD signal. Now switch works for OSD on one pole and RGB mod on the other.)
8. CSYNC goes to the composite video input, same for the left and right audio channels. (Use 1k resistors on audio lines.)
9. For the ground wire, use a 220ohm resistor.
