Philips 32ICM000

Summary

The Philips 32ICM000 is a 32-inch professional CRT display designed for use in video wall systems. It uses a 16:9 CRT and accepts RGBHV signals through its VGA input. The monitor operates at approximately 31 kHz horizontal scan frequency and supports 480p, 576p, 1080i, and 16:9 480-line PC timings. Supported 16:9 timings include 848×480 and 852×480 at 60 Hz.

The monitor uses automatic geometry adjustment based on the incoming signal and does not provide conventional user-accessible geometry controls. The chassis is identified as ICM, with the model designation PID3200/EU.

Notes

This unit was originally configured as a slave display for a video wall. The AIO/control PCB on the side of the monitor has been modified so that the unit operates as a master. The modification involves the RS-232 interface and includes several PCB traces that have been cut/scratched to implement the modification.

The monitor will remain in standby until it detects a valid video signal. Once a supported signal is supplied, it wakes from standby and displays the image.

The geometry adjustment section of the PCB is unpopulated on this unit. Geometry is instead automatically configured according to the incoming signal.

The monitor accepts 31 kHz RGBHV signals and was tested successfully with 640×480 @ 60 Hz, 720×480 @ 60 Hz, 720×576 @ 50 Hz, 1920×1080 interlaced @ 30 Hz, 848×480 @ 60 Hz, and 852×480 @ 60 Hz.

For 240p sources, an external scaler is required because the monitor does not accept 15 kHz signals. An ODV-GBS-C has been used successfully to upscale 240p sources to 480p.

The unit was fully recapped and cleaned during restoration. Several oxidized areas on the PCB were repaired.

The RS-232 interface is present on the side AIO/control PCB. The original control protocol has not yet been identified.
