Summary

A great start to excellent home entertainment at a price you can enjoy. Engineered to last - the 100% solid state 'XtendedLife' chassis delivers a sharp, bright picture, yet uses less energy than a 75 watt light bulb. The 'AccuLine' black matrix picture tube provides a high contrast picture right to the edges of the screen. The modern cabinet, finished in fog white, comes with a handsome table-top base of chrome plated steel. A beautiful way to watch TV.

Mods & Repair Guides

  • Repair Book indicating a loss of color on the similar CTC97 chassis due to C39 being leaky.

Notes

Unit pictured would not produce color - exact cause undetermined. C29 and C39 both tested good on capacitance and leakage. Color crystal was not dead. Sam's suggests the chroma IC may be the cause of loss of color.

Repair Notes

As soon as the red drive pot was turned there was a complete loss of blue and red as the pot had gone open, and contact cleaner did not help. The Sam's schematic lists it as a 2100 ohm pot but that is wrong and will result in extremely weak blue. The correct spec for R81C is 100 ohm as it is denoted in the parts list.
