Summary

19" color TV by Sampo from 1981. Made of parts from Taiwan and USA. This TV has a very particular design with the main 20" color tube (19" visible) and 2 additional smaller 5" black&white tubes on the side. Each one of the small monitors can use an independent RF input, or be locked to the same one used by the main TV.

The internal chassis design is interesting:

  • the 19" chassis has everything except for the TV tuner
  • each 5" monitor has his own chassis, but without power supply
  • there is a common channel selection board that also include one of the transformers needed by the monitors power supply
  • the power supply for the 2 monitors is fed with 15V AC from the channel selection board
  • tuners for the monitors are in the monitor chassis, tuner for the TV in the channel selecto board

This is very much the result of reusing as many existing components as possible, at the cost of complicating the design.

Notes

There are 3 power switches:

  • 1 general pull-knob, that also act as volume control
  • 1 for the main color TV
  • 1 for the two 5" monitors

This color picture tube is interchangeable with the 510UKB22. These two interchangeable tubes were used in the Sega Nanao MC-2000-S arcade monitor and paired with games such as Karate Champ, Zaxxon, and Congo Bongo.

The deflection of the B&W tubes is 50°. Inductance for the B&W yokes is horizontal .246mH and vertical 18.1mH, yoke model 89-2510-00.

There were also optional B&W security cameras for connecting to the B&W screens.
