A deluxe 19" color set with advanced-design 100% solid-state chassis for super reliability. Newest "state-of-the-art" in-line gun, slotted mask, black matrix picture tube for one of the best color pictures you've seen at any price.
Repair Notes
- C426 22uF 160V blew open during usage.
- Raster was slowly shrinking and stretching vertically. Cause undetermined. Checking caps in vertical and replacing open ones C461 and C462, as well as recapping the power supply board had no effect.
- Set's raster started to glitch and then collapsed and would no longer turn on. B+ was low around 50V. Disconnecting B+ output and substituting a dummy load (light bulb) resulted in correct 120V B+ with the light bulb lighting up, indicating it was not a power supply issue. HOT was not shorted. Flyback would get rather warm to the touch.
Notes
For the first time turning it on in likely decades, cement resistor R008 on the power board emitted some smoke (100 ohm, 20W). But this was temporary and it worked fine after that with no smoke being emitted.
This CRT is confirmed to be a hot chassis.
Hot Chassis means that "ground" on the chassis is tied to one side of the AC input from the wall, and touching it with your hand will complete a live circuit through your body to earth ground if the CRT is plugged into an AC outlet. The proper way to avoid this danger is to use an isolation transformer to isolate the CRT from earth ground and prevent electrocuting yourself.
