Repair Notes

A common issue on this model is for it to shut down a few seconds after being turned on. On this unit, the power fail circuit was found to be low. Pin 40 of IC801 and the cathode side of D429 should both be 5V but they were around 1V. This will shut down the set - see p.11 of the service manual. The ultimate cause for the power fail circuit being low was not determined.

Composite Performance

For composite decoding this set has a Renesas M61266FP, which uses a notch filter. There were no hanging dot artifacts accordingly and all dithering patterns were properly blended.
