Summary

A surprisingly great 27" CRT model by Sharp. One of the last models to be released by the company in 2006. (This is not to be confused with the 27SC260. Same chassis, but slightly different-looking case design.)

Literature

  • User Manual (Since I was unable to find the manual to the "B" variant, the one for the 27SC260 will have to suffice.)
  • Service Manual

Notes

The component video quality is excellent on this set. The only gripe I may have is the mild red push, but it is hardly noticeable. Surprisingly, there's no VM to disable this time. I guess near the end of CRT production, Sharp figured it was no longer a necessary expense to include that feature.

The tube in this model was made by Thomson at their Mexico plant since the Lancaster facility was shut down the year prior, but its likely a slightly modified model of one of RCA's designs. Its a fine tube all things considered, and I think its higher quality than the older US-made A68ADT25X model. In fact, I think the 55X may have been the official replacement or successor to the 25X.

This set has an ATSC tuner built in, so it can still receive modern digital OTA broadcasting.

In short, this is an excellent set that will put a 27" JVC D-Series to shame. (I'll never turn down an opportunity to dunk on the D's.)
