Summary

A 34'' high-end Sony Wega that offers widescreen, resolutions up to 1080i, and HDMI support. This is the last Sony HD CRT model to be produced under the "Super Fine Pitch" brand, which means a higher horizontal resolution the picture can provide when projected at 1080i compared to the "Hi-Scan" series.

Notes

There is a similar KD-34XBR960 without the "N" at the end of the model number, but there is a difference between these two models. This 960N removes the anti-glare screen coating on the screen that the 960 had, which the absence of it does cause noticeable glares and reflections in a lit room, but in return provides a slightly sharper image than the ones with the anti-glare coating.

This may likely be the penultimate HD CRT Sony has ever made, with one other model (KD-34XBR970) is known to be the last model produced and is the next model number up from 960, although that one is from the "Hi-Scan" model series.

Like most other Sony Trinitron/Wega models, this set has a service menu, and can be accessed if you press "Display" + "5" + "Vol +" and "Power" in order on the remote.

Since this is an HD CRT, it's recommended for game consoles that support 480p or better to get the best image quality out of the set (Anything from Dreamcast up through Wii/PS3/Xbox 360). However, you will experience a frame or two of input delay at 480p since the TV would try to properly scale and process the image to fit on a 1080i screen. Playing at 240p/480i would not be ideal as the delay would be more noticeable and the scaling of the picture would be more blurry compared to 480p/1080i.

This set I have was purchased secondhand, and I couldn't test it through HDMI since one of the pins on the port was badly twisted and bent, so I didn't have a way to showcase it through HDMI unfortunately.
