Summary

The Sony KV-10FMR20 is a small set with monitor/receiver capabilities and mega bass for a sound that is notable from such a small unit. This set will provide a solid picture in any room for a limited number of viewers. It is very effective for displaying video games and the sound can be piped through a pair of headphones.

In addition to having composite video inputs and normal RF tuning, this also has a built in FM tuner for radio, but no AM. Sound has a MEGA BASS setting, but common for sets this old to have cracked speaker foam. Replacement speaker must be well shielded, as it sits near the purity/convergence rings and can crazily affect color and geometry.

• A simple s-video mod can be achieved by sending luma to the composite input, lifting the input side of R308 and connecting chroma to it, and connecting s-video ground to cold-side ground. I marked the pad to lift from in marker on the bottom side of the main board in a pic in the gallery below. (-E.K.)

May suffer from brittle plastic on the input panel in the back and the button panel on top.

Baisc picture settings can only be adjusted with a remote. The lone speaker is attached to a large acoustic chamber.
