Summary
The largest direct view CRT known in existence. Previously only known by some advertisements and two unattributed images on the internet, the single known example confirmed left to exist in the world was finally found by ShankMods & friends in 2024. Amazingly, he found the exact one featured in one of the images below. The unit was imported all the way from its soon-to-be-grave in a Japanese soba noodle restaurant "Chikuma" to Shank's garage in Texas, where it can safely live out the rest of its days and be enjoyed by many.
There is a similar non-PVM model known as the Sony KX-45ED1. It was marketed as a limited-edition model for the 20th anniversary of Trinitron. Lastly there is a third variant with a built-in tuner, known as the KX-45ED1T.
[The Sony PVM-4300] is an example of an "IDTV" (Improved Definition TV), which uses digital circuitry to deinterlace 480i NTSC video signals to 480p. This was meant to reduce eye-straining flicker and improve image clarity on large size screens. In Japan, Sony called this "Digital Frame Memory TV". It includes two RGB inputs. The first one is for 15kHz (480i) signals. The second one is for 31kHz (480p) signals and bypasses the digital up-conversion circuitry. - ConsoleMods Wiki
