Summary
Compact broadcast monitor from Sony, commonly used in video walls. Due to it being monochrome, it has a standard round tube instead of the usual Trinitron shape. Picture is extremely sharp for its size, and is rated at 900 TVL.

Notes
As with all monochrome monitors, the picture is much cleaner if you're able to input a pure luma signal rather than composite video. This can be obtained from S-Video (via an RCA splitter adapter), or from component video if you use the green RCA plug.
This monitor had a very long production run, from 1993 until the mid-2000s.
The phosphor used in the PVM-96 and PVM-136 has a white balance of 6500k. Sony also produced the PVM-97, which used a 9300k phosphor but was otherwise identical.
