Notes

• This model uses a different signal process compared to the previous year's models called "CrystalScan HDSC." Resolutions 240p/480i, 480p, and 720p are all scaled to 540p/1080i.
• It has 1080i vertical compression to retain resolution when showing 1080i letterboxed, as opposed to just scaling 1080i to a smaller number of lines in the middle of the screen. Adjustable by pressing PIC SIZE on the remote or selecting IMAGE SHAPE in the user menu.
• This set has velocity scanning modulation (VSM) that is injected into the signal. To disable it, disconnect the the two-wire cable connected to P705 on the neck board which leads to the VM coil.
• To connect HDMI to this set a simple passive HDMI to DVI cable can be used, with audio handled by an RCA cable as DVI does not carry audio.
• One unit would exhibit some visual wavy noise for the first couple of minutes after start-up but then clear up by itself.

N3PS Chassis Lag Testing

The number of frames of lag per resolution/input are listed below. Some technical issues with my equipment prevented testing 1080i but I will test again when I get them ironed out. The lowest lag results attained were at 480p.
