Summary

32" flat HD CRT by Zenith from 2002. Made by LG in Mexico. Unlike the V22 models, this set lacks the VGA input, being component at best. Can still receive SD and HDTV broadcasting via it's digital tuner.

Notes

This HD CRT is kind of odd... it will accept 480i and 1080i over the component input, but not 480p.

SD signals are deinterlaced and upconverted to 540p. The processing adds several frames of lag, enough that it breaks playability for 240p/480i games. As for 1080i games, I don't recall feeling any lag. Way snappier. Therefore, if you plan to use this set, I recommend playing in 1080i.

However, that brings us to another oddity about this set: the aspect ratio toggling. For some reason it displayed everything in fullscreen 4:3, even 480i. And if you tried to change the aspect ratio in the menu, the option is grayed out. Maybe it was a glitch or something, but it was very strange.

This set also has velocity modulation that you cannot turn off in the menu. However, you can disable it by pulling the jumper that injects it from the yoke inside. (The included pics are of it with the VM still enabled.)

According to the service manual, this set uses either an LG-Philips picture tube or Panasonic model. Pics below are of the latter.

Speakers on my set were worn out and rattled like crazy, but YMMV. There is digital audio output over an optical connection.
