Summary

27" flat Zenith CRT from 1999. From 1999 to 2000, Zenith CRTs with component inputs were branded under "Inteq." Made by LG in Korea. This set is essentially a variant of the LG Flatron model CP-29Q12P.

Notes

LG became a majority shareholder in Zenith starting in mid-1995, and in 1999 when Zenith declared bankruptcy, LG took up production of their large-screen CRT televisions.

A common misconception is that the tubes in these sets are using Zenith's flat tension mask technology, but this is not true. (The Rauland picture tube plant had shut down in 1998.) The tube was in fact made by LG in-house in Korea. (A couple years later in 2001, they would merge picture tube production with Philips. The tube would henceforth be rebranded under the LG-Philips name.)

Picture quality is excellent via the Sony jungle chip. However, there is velocity modulation that cannot be turned off in the standard menu. The only way to disable it is to disconnect the jumper going from the yoke to the neckboard. Also uses a 3-line comb filter.

The sound on this set is excellent in that it is packing 15W DOME speakers with subwoofers.

Service Menu

To enter the service menu, on the remote press and hold the MENU button until the standard menu disappears, then press 9, 8, 7, 6, and ENTER. Once the first service menu screen appears, set item F MODE to 1, and then you will have access to all service menu options. You can toggle each option with the UP/DOWN buttons, and adjust the values with the LEFT/RIGHT buttons.

(Once you make an adjustment, the new value is written to the EEPROM. It is advised you write down the original values before adjusting just in case you wish to reverse your changes later.)
