CR-9 Socket

The reported pin assignment of this tube is different than the standardized assignment for socket CR-9! This means either the pinout data for this tube was recorded wrong (wouldn't be the first time), or the manufacturer purposely did not follow the standardized pinout for the chosen socket. We have not been able to verify this yet.

For your convenience, both sets of pinout data are shown here. The mismatched pin assignments are highlighted. You should consult service data for the chassis using the tube to verify the pinout. If you can verify which pinout is correct please contact us with the correction.
Pin # Standard CR-9 Assignment Reported Assignment
1 Heater (F1) Heater (F1)
2 G2 Green Pin G2 Red Pin
3 G1 Red Pin G1 Red Pin
4 Focus (G3)
6 G2 Red Pin
7 Red Pin Red Pin
8 Heater (F2) Heater (F2)
CR-9 Datasheet

Note: If you only see one assignment for G1 (or G2), it means there is only a single G1 (or G2) grid shared across all cathodes. This is called "common G1" (or "common G2"). In this case, when using a Universal Adapter (UA), you only have to hook up one G1 (or G2) lead on your tester to connect all cathodes' G1 or G2 properly.
