Summary

Apple's top of the line monitor for 1997, the AppleVision 850 features a dark tinted, 19" viewable Trinitron tube. Unlike some previous Apple monitors, the chassis was not manufactured by Sony and uses components from several manufacturers. It is capable of a 94 kHz scan rate, and was intended to be used with 1600x1200 at 75 Hz. The monitor's video cable includes an ADB connector; this allows the monitor to interface with Mac computers for calibration adjustments and provides a hub for connecting peripherals.

Midway through its lifespan, the AppleVision series was renamed "ColorSync".

This monitor was also identified as model # M3705. A Multimedia variant of this monitor, the 850AV, includes bottom mounted speakers and a built in microphone.

The monitor includes a built in video cable with a proprietary Macintosh DA-15 connector. It was advertised as being compatible with PCs via VGA to Mac adapter. However, a Mac is still required for calibration and service adjustments. An adapter can easily made by soldering a female DA-15 connector to a VGA cable.
