Summary
High-end 38" HD CRT by Loewe, made in Germany and launched in North America in 2001. Has RF, composite, s-video, component, and VGA input. It can natively scan 480p/960i, 540p/1080i, and upconverts NTSC and PAL signals.
In 1999, Loewe partnered with Sensory Science Corporation (formerly Go-Video) for distribution of their sets in the USA. Then in 2001 SonicBlue acquired Sensory Science. Later that same year, it was announced that Loewe and SonicBlue would end their partnership: Loewe, SonicBlue End U.S. TV Agreement
These sets were sold in limited numbers and were very expensive for the time. This set is one of the largest widescreen CRTs ever made.

Manuals
A year or so after the model's introduction, Loewe revised the chassis, likely to address the power supply issues:

Notes
The picture tube in this set was made by RCA in the USA, and it is the largest widescreen picture tube for consumer television sets. It can also be found in the RCA F38310 and Proscan PS38000.
The "S" at the end of the model number stands for "Stratos Metallic" finish. There was a Piano Black (PB) finish variant as well:

Over the years there have been reports of power supply failure and relay faults with these sets. It is advised that if you do find one of these models, be aware it may need servicing at some point in the future. Later on Loewe made further refinements with the A2440 chassis, and introduced Gravel (G) and Basalt (B) models.
The VGA input accepts higher resolutions, but the component input is SD only.
This set has velocity modulation. To disable it, go into the service menu and set option byte 5, bit 1 to "0"
According to AVS Forum user Darreb_C, these are the changes/Improvements on the A2440 chassis:
1) Claims to have a "Real Flat" picture tube rather than "Super Flatline." Visually, I could see no difference in curvature or any other external differences other than faceplate color. 2) Chassis is now called A2440 rather than A2400 3) Added "Color Detail" adjustment 4) Added "Digital Movie Mode Plus" with "Selectable Reverse 3-2 pulldown correction" 5) Added "Autosense Input" that automatically adapts to input scan rate on Component and VGA 6) Includes VGA/Component adapter to allow VGA to operate as a 2nd Component in 7) Unclear if they have added digital audio inputs/outputs 8) Audio no longer lists "dbX" with MTS Stereo reception 9) No longer lists RS-232 Serial Port optional adapter
