Repair Notes
- Clicking noise (no power): Check the HOT (pull and test with multimeter or transistor tester - should test as NPN). If it doesn't test good then it needs to be replaced BUT there is likely another failed component somewhere causing it to blow. If you don't find that component you will just blow the replacement HOT immediately. I would check the ESR and value of all larger capacitors in the vicinity of the HOT. If they test fine then check the film capacitors next to the flyback. I had one where one of the capacitors had dropped to about 10% of the rated value and until I replaced it the set would just keep blowing brand new HOTs. Keep in mind you will need a higher end multimeter or LCR tester to measure accurately in nF or pF.
