Summary

27" flat CRT with a full set of inputs: composite, s-video, and component. It uses a similar tube and jungle chip as the JVC I'Art series, and the picture quality is very close when the TV is set up correctly (see notes).

Notes

This TV has very strong velocity modulation, which exaggerates dark areas of the picture and visibly degrades the appearance of pixel art. (Provided pics are with VM engaged.) To disable it, enter the service menu, select option #V34, and change it to 3 (refer to page 6 of the service manual linked above for instructions). Another way is to unplug the jumper connecting the yoke to the neckboard.

By default, contrast level is set to maximum. Picture quality will improve significantly if the contrast is reduced to normal levels.

Unlike most TVs, the service menu can be accessed and navigated without the use of a remote.

The jungle chip supports 50hz and other oddball frequencies with a 15khz range. However, anything that is significantly lower or higher than NTSC spec will only be in color over component.
