Notes
Internally there are potentiometers for horizontal centering and vertical size, and there is a three position switch for vertical position.
Most internals assembled in Mexico with Philips IC's - final assembly in Tennessee. Tube (by Hitachi) and yoke made in Japan.
Repair Notes
- Unit would not turn on. Electrolytic C337 on the input of the 5V regulator was shorted, as well as C438 also on the secondary side of the power supply.
- Resistor R456 gets too hot to touch when the unit is in standby and both of the electrolytics next to it had gone bad and had black marks on the side from heat stress, C440 & C442. The Atlas ESR70 indicated that they were "In-circuit/leaky" when tested out of circuit. When replacing them, recommend giving them some extra height on the legs and leaning them away from the adjacent cement resistor.
- Sound was distorted due the main speaker's foam having disintegrated. Sound was still distorted after replacing the speaker (2" x 3"); fixed by adjusting 4.5MHz sound discriminator L206.
- There was a bit of highlight streaking when the contrast was turned up. I ESR tested every single electrolytic and pulled a few out of circuit to test just to be sure but didn't find any additional bad ones besides the four listed above. Cause undetermined.
