Notes

Like other Orion TVs, this model lacks an input select button on the front panel, and cannot change video sources without the remote control.

You can enter the service menu by holding down VOL- on the front panel plus the 9 button on the remote simultaneously for 2 seconds. Channel up/down on the remote selects service menu options. Option #1 will shut off the vertical oscillator, causing vertical collapse. Don't be alarmed, it will go back to normal as you scroll to a different menu option. Volume up/down on the remote increases or decreases values. Pressing MENU on the remote saves and exits the service mode.

Composite 240p Performance

by Eli Krause

For composite decoding this set uses a Toshiba TC90A45FG, a dynamic 2-line digital comb filter introduced in 1997. Depending on the console/revision, dot artifacting ranges from moderate to severe, blending effects may be broken, and edge artifacts are mostly moderate to severe. An example of the many dot artifacts are highlighted in the second picture below in red. If the set has a higher bandwidth input such as s-video or component, then using an external notch filter to decode composite instead (guide here) and sending that to the set would blend all dithering patterns, reduce edge artifacts, and remove nearly all dot artifacts.
