Notes
None of the buttons on the touchpad worked including the power button, but the set did work with a remote control. I programmed a universal remote to operate it. In order to switch inputs I pressed the Menu button to bring up the OSD, and then Menu again to select Source, and the directional arrow Right repeatedly to switch to the composite or Y/C (S-Video) input. Using a different Zenith remote with a Menu button and directional arrows will work as well for switching inputs in the same fashion.
Either the comb filter was out of alignment or it's the worst composite decoder I have ever seen for video game content, with dot artifacts all over areas where I've never seen them before outside of a monochrome monitor with no luma/chroma separation. Strongly recommend using the s-video input or an external notch filter if using for retro gaming. See picture of Castlevania II in the gallery and notice how the blue background is covered in dot artifacts.
Repair Notes
- No sound was coming from the left speaker due to a bad connection inside the Variable Audio switch on the rear jack panel. Fixed by spraying inside the switch with contact cleaner.
- Horizontal size was a fair bit wider than it should be and there is no adjustment - cause undetermined.
