Summary

Notes

The AV-27432 is identical to the AV-27430, but with a silver front bezel instead of black. It uses the same chassis and tubes as the AV-27D104 and AV-27D304.

Unlike the previous years' models, the AV-27430 and 27432 don't require the component video input to be enabled in the user menu. Instead, the input select button cycles between composite and YPbPr modes on the video 2 input. If the picture displays in black and white when component video is connected, press the input button one more time and it should switch to YPbPr mode.

This TV has a 1-chip chassis design and cannot be modded for RGB. However, the component video quality is excellent and there is little to be gained by doing so.

JVC used two different picture tubes in their 27" TVs, indicated by a letter S or R after the serial number. S units contain a Samsung tube, and those with an R use a Thomson/RCA tube. Thomson tubes are sought after due to their vibrant colors, however they use a bonded yoke and cannot be adjusted to correct for convergence errors.
