Summary

27" consumer TV from JVC with composite, S-Video, and Component inputs. Similar to the 27" D Series, but with bottom mounted speakers. These TVs have a very clean picture through component video and are among the best TVs in their size class for gaming. Introduced in 2004, the AV-27530 and the AV-27D305 were the last curved tube 27" models that JVC produced.

Notes

The AV-27530 is identical to the AV-27430 from the previous year, with minor cosmetic differences to the front bezel. According to JVC's service documentation, the chassis is identical to the AV-27430 & AV-27432. It uses the same chassis and tubes as the AV-27D104 and AV-27D304.

The Video 2 input on this TV can accept composite or component video (with the green input jack used for composite). The input select button cycles between composite and YPbPr modes. If the picture displays in black and white when component video is connected, press the input button one more time and it should switch to YPbPr mode.

This TV has a 1-chip chassis design and cannot be modded for RGB. However, the component video quality is excellent and there is little to be gained by doing so.

JVC used two different picture tubes in their 27" TVs, indicated by a letter S or R after the serial number. S units contain a Samsung tube, and those with an R use a Thompson/RCA tube. Thompson tubes are sought after due to their vibrant colors, however they use a bonded yoke and cannot be adjusted to correct for convergence errors.
