Summary

8" portable Trinitron monitor, produced from the mid 1980s to early 1990s. Uses the same frame and chassis as the PVM-8220 and PVM-8221, but has a plastic case with a handle and kickstand. Unlike the rack mounted models, it has a built in speaker, battery slots, and inputs for 12v power and an RF tuner. However, it is missing the tally light and external sync input.

Notes

A high resolution version, the BVM-8021, was also produced. It uses a 0.25mm 450 TVL tube.

The tube used in this monitor is the same as in later model 8" PVMs such as the PVM-8040, PVM-8041Q, and PVM-9L2. However, the yoke is not compatible and must be changed when doing a tube swap between the two.

On the other hand, the yoke used in this model is compatible with Sony's 8" consumer TVs such as the KV-8AD11 and KV-8AD12. Although you would have to change the PCB connector, the tube and yoke could be swapped directly into one of those models.
