Notes

Picture quality on this set is good by default, but reds are overblown to high heaven. You can disable the red push in the service menu this way:

  • For TV channels, RF, composite, and s-video, you set R Y GAIN and CD MATRIX to “000.”
  • Then switch over to component input and turn CMP R Y GAIN and CMP CD MATRIX to “000.”
  • After that, red push should be completely eliminated.

The picture quality will be greatly improved after you do this, and you can perform a white balance in the service menu to dial it in.

The tube in this model can be identified based on the letter beside the serial number: "R" for RCA, and "S" for Samsung. The pics you see are of the Samsung tube with low hours and it's fantastic! Very sharp and clean.

Picture was set with red push disabled, and sharpness set to 25%.
