Latest Improvements to CRT Database
- Upcoming / To-Do
- Page changes will be tracked, and edit history will be viewable.
- Add lookup table for Müter adapters and which CR sockets they are compatible with.
- Scan, OCR, and import the Sencore CR-7000 CRT Setup Book.
- Add automatic list of compatible tubes by pinout + size to tube listing pages.
- Dec. 22, 2024:
- Happy Holidays! 🎄 Added a new 'Scaled Resolutions' field to differentiate between native and non-native resolutions. This will help explain when certain CRTs, while they accept certain resolutions, will do so via internal upscaling instead of natively being able to sync to the incoming signal.
- Added tooltip hints on several "specsheet" items to help explain our methodology or meanings.
- Added "Hall of Fame" list to front page (see above). This list was already viewable by filtering by the "Hall of Fame" tag on the CRT Search Page but I think its a neat introduction to cool CRTs as well as our search tool.
- Added "Width" "Height" and "Depth" as trackable and searchable CRT specs. Our DB did not previously track these, so they will be retroactively filled out as time permits.
- Oct. 15, 2024:
- Migrated the website to dedicated cloud hosting for increased reliability / reduced downtime and page speed increases.
- Oct. 3, 2024:
- Added all known Muter socket data (circa the offical 2018 PDF document by Ulrich Muter) to the Tubes Directory.
- Oct. 2, 2024:
- Happy Spooky Season! 🎃 Today I added the long-anticipated redesign of the CRT Discovery Tool - now known as CRT Search. There's too many improvements to list, but honestly, I think its mostly self-explanatory once you use it. It's much more pleasant and functional.
- Sep. 12, 2024:
- Bugfix: Tube search would display no results if you were on a page # greater than 1 and then applied a filter
- New: Tubes which exist in our database are now bolded in the CRT specsheet, so that you can tell at a glance if you'll get more info about the tube by clicking the link or if it will just take you to the Discovery Tool for basic cross-referencing.
- New: Many uncommon data columns are now hidden by default in the tube directory, but if you activate a filter for them they will show up. Example: Anode Voltage
- New: Tubes in search results which don't have any pinout data will display the pinout data from their socket, if the data is available. This matches the behavior of the tube detail pages.
- New: Added Müter BMR socket adapter as a tube data field. Also added it to tube directory search. For now this data is added manually but I may OCR my 2001 Müter booklet if I have time.
- Sep. 5, 2024:
- New: Added a way for you to submit CRT data to CRT Database via Google Forms. Once submissions are manually reviewed they will be added to the database.
- Sep. 2, 2024:
- New: Added a searchable Tubes Directory. This is a soft launch since the directory feature is still under development (both features & data-wise). If you are granular enough to be reading this changelog then you're the perfect person to beta-test this new feature :)
- Change: Increased "latest entries posted/updated/edited" display (see above) from 5 to 16 since the DB is being much more actively updated these last few months than ever before.
- Change: Improved sorting algorithm for CRT models within a brand's series. This applies to both the List and Gallery views.
- Change: Improved grouping display of series lists within a brand to improve page readability. Series lists which are longer than 20 items are now split into a new (continued) column to prevent huge lists like Sony's KV series taking up half the page height.
- New: Added this public changelog to help you track site improvements :)
